Department of commerce was established on 1997 under The MDT Hindu college for women ,in The MDT Hindu College Higher Secondary School Tirunelveli, Junction with an objective to emperor students with all the knowledge and guidance that they need to become worthy Commerce Professionals and also to provide for the Holistic Development of the Instiution which will ultimately lead to the development of the society.

On 2006 , afterwords boys also admitted on this course. The Department has been providing quality education to get cent per cent results and secure rank in the Universities exam and also to make student employable in the Society. The Department has eight well qualified and experienced faculties with rich experienced along the qualification of PH.D.
