The Department of Natural Science was established during the early 1940s to cater to the needs of intermediate course students at the college. In late 1950, the department was upgraded to offer a B.Sc. degree course in Zoology. From that inception till date, the department has imbibed knowledge of the living world into teaching.

The department proudly possesses a collection of umpteen rare and common specimens in its well-maintained prestigious and one of the oldest museums in South Tamilnadu.

Learning in its real sense can happen only in a relaxed atmosphere and that is happening in our explicit library, which is stuffed with 1813 subject-related books for student reading and reference.

The Reading Club has started to nurture learning habits among students by providing general knowledge and other extensive reading books.

The department is adorned with modern equipment and teaching learning devices to impart good education to the students.
