The historical and tremendous “The Madurai Diraviyam Thayumanavar Hindu College” was established in the year 1887 with the title “Hindu Kalasalai”.The prestigious Department of Mathematics was started in the college with the Undergraduate degree in Mathematics in the year 1957.With the steady progress, the Post-graduate degree (M.Sc) was introduced in the year 1980.The Department was upgraded as a Research Department in Mathematics in the year 2006.All the faculty of the Department of Mathematics are active in Research and are approved Research guides of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli and the Department has produced 40 Ph.D’s so far. Two UGC sponsored seminars were organized and four minor projects funded by UGC have been completed. In 2019, a student has got the University Rank in B.Sc Mathematics degree of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. Most of the alumni of the Department are employed in software companies, Government Sector and Bank’s and we are trying our level best for quality enhancement and to uplift the learner’s to highest core in their career.
